Hints & Tips:
Greeks eat potatoes a lot. For example, "fried potatoes" is a very common side dish in Greek taverns and restaurants. Potatoes are also cooked with meats and with vegetables. They are also delicious when served baked with oregano. When purchasing potatoes choose hard ones. Avoid potatoes that have green parts because they considered poisonous.
Potato was first introduced in Greece by his first president Ioannis Kapodistrias. Kapodistrias realised that such a calorific and nutritious crop could be useful for a poor country like Greece. His thought was absolutely right.
