Hints & Tips:
Like most of the vegetables, cucumber is better preserved in the fridge when it is closed in a paper bag. When purchasing cucumbers avoid the large ones. These contain many seeds, which they should be better removed when you mix cucumber in a salad. Therefore, choose small in size, which at least in Greece, are sold by the kilo and not per item. Greeks consume cucumber only raw and mostly in salads. The most famous greek foods that contain cucumber are the greek salad and tzatziki.
Cucumber is a summer vegetable with the greatest concentration of water (approximately 96%). This is why it is also known as "crusty water". It is a negative calorie food, ideal for people who want to lose weight.
