Sigma (ó,ò):There are two forms for the letter Sigma. When written at the end of a word,
it is written like ò. If it occurs anywhere else, it is written like ó.
Chi (÷): This is the same sound like in the Scottish "Loch".
Dipthongs: When two vowels combine to make one sound, it is called a dipthong. There are seven dipthongs in Greek:
áé, åé, ïé, õé, ïõ, åõ, áõ. When the word that contains a dipthong has the symbol of accent (') on top of the second
letter of the dipthong then it is pronounced as follows:
áß: like the e in the
åß: like the i in mint
õß: like the i in mint
ïß: like the i in mint
ïý: like the ou in you
åý: like ef in self or ev in evaporate depending on the word
áý: like af in after or av in avalon depending on the word
