Sour Cream Cake


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Prepare syrup: Boil syrup ingredients 10 minutes and let cool.
  3. Prepare Cake: Melt butter and cool.
  4. Then cream with sugar and eggs.
  5. Add mixed flour( baking powder,soda) alternately with milk and sour cream to the batter. Stir in vanilla.
  6. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 pan.
  7. Bake in a 350F oven about 35 minutes or until tested done.
  8. Pour cooled syrup over hot cake.
  9. Let cake cool completely before cutting.


  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla



  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 3/4 cup water
  • 1 lemon wedge

  1. I LOVE THE CAKE! It doesn’t tastle like sour cream at all, it is in fact a great cake! I made it for my english class and i am sure everyone will like it. Thanks for the great cake! we’re having a toga party tommorrow, and I shall share my cake!
