Baked Macaroni


  1. Boil the macaroni in 4 quarts of boiling salted water. Drain well and return to the pan.
  2. Prepare the bechamel sauce as the instructions describe.
  3. In a greased casserole (yiouvetsi) put the macaroni in layers with one cup of the cheese.
  4. Pour over sauce.
  5. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and bake in a hot oven for 30 minutes.

  • 1 lb. Macaroni
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups (Kefalotiri and Gruyere) Grated Cheese
  • A portion of bechamel sauce



  1. It was delicious, but I couldn’t find the cheese–“Kefalotiri”, but I did find the Gruyere cheese. If anybody knows where to find this cheese, let me know at
